The Surroundings
Located between town and nature, Auberge aux 4 Vents offers many options for visits and walks.
On the town side, Fribourg, nestled around the Sarine River, unfolds its squares and old alleys under the visitors’ feet and offers a rich cultural life.
On the nature side, fields and woods overlook Lake Schiffenen. Spanning the lake, the magnificent Grandfey Viaduct connects the French- and German-speaking parts of the country at a point marked by a monumental installation by artist Richard Serra. Just across the bridge lies the troglodyte hermitage of La Madeleine.
A little farther out, you can reach Murten, Gruyères, or Bern in thirty minutes, and the major Swiss cities or the Alps in just over an hour.
Bikes are available for your outings in the area.
